The Question of Covid-19 – Strengthening the Heart Sphere in Turbulent Times

Annual Conference hosted the Medical Section in GB

Open to those whose work connects them with the Medical Section of the School of Spiritual Science

The last three years have been overshadowed by the arrival of Covid-19 and all its implications, not only for those seriously impacted by the illness itself or the vaccine, but also for civil society worldwide. Human minds everywhere have been wrestling to grasp and make sense of all the phenomena, whether on a medical, sociological, political or spiritual level. Covid and its aftermath have led to extreme polarisation: in the illness itself, as well as in its social forcefield.

We are pleased that Dr Harald Matthes, specialist for internal medicine, co-founder and director of the anthroposophic Hospital Havelhöhe in Berlin, will join us to explore the above theme. He has wide-ranging experience with patients who have suffered from Long Covid and those severely impacted by vaccination, as well as with Covid patients in intensive care. He has tried to come to an anthroposophic understanding of the illness phenomena, and will share his insights with us. He sees the polarisation in the social realm, which has arisen from people’s divergent understanding of the background of the ‘pandemic’, as part of the illness picture.

At last year’s Conference we immersed ourselves in the theme of ‘Raphael, Brother of Mankind’ and community building within the medical-therapeutic movement. Building community is not such a challenge when everyone is more or less ‘on the same page’. But how can we create a genuine listening space, a heart space, when the topic at hand has such a volatile, divisive charge? How can we build a research community across the divide? We will approach these themes through lectures, small group work, workshops and plenum conversations.

We warmly welcome you to join us at the Conference!
