Is there a place for ‘Spirit’ in Science and Medicine?

  • Friday, June 08, 2018
  • 18:00
  • Saturday, June 09, 2018
  • 19:00
  • The University of Westminster 101 New Cavendish Street London W1W 6XH

At a time when reductionist and mechanical views of the Human Being dominate our Society and Medicine and more holistic approaches are being attacked in the name of Science, this seminar gives the opportunity to hear the scientific and epistemological foundations of another paradigm.

  • Prof. Peter Heusser is the author of “Science and Anthroposophy” in which he surveys the major branches of science and shows them to be compatible with more holistic and spiritual understanding of the world and humanity. His contributions relate to the themes covered in this book. He is Emeritus Professor of Medical Theory, Integrative Medicine and Anthroposophic Medicine at Witten-Herdecke University. In the last 20 years significant research is beginning to provide evidence for the effectiveness of a more spiritual approach to medicine, such as anthroposophic medicine.
  • Prof David Martin Professor of Paediatrics at Tȕbingen University and Professor of Medical Theory, Integrative Medicine and Anthroposophic Medicine at Witten-Herdecke University will give an international overview of this evidence.
  • Dr David McGavin, a GP with Special Interest in Pain Management in Greenwich and Prof. Gene Feder, an NHS GP and Professor of Primary Care at Bristol Medical School, will describe two UK Research Projects.
  • Prof. David Peters is Professor of Integrated Healthcare at Westminster University, the venue of seminar, will be chairing the plenum and panel discussion.

A Public Seminar arranged jointly by the Medical and Natural Science Sections of the School of Spiritual Science with the support of the Medical and Scientific Network.

This event forms part of the current Anthroposophic Doctors Training - Started 2nd December 2016 but still open for New Participants.
