  • Movement Workshops: The Well Played Game March 12-13

What are the components of a well played game? How do we use games most effectively for social education and how do we allow for the expression of excellence within a game? Can we change the rules of a game to suit players' needs? What are the overarching principles that make a game suitable for the different age groups which we teach?

  • Movement Workshops: A Journey through the High School April 9-10

There are around 30 Bothmer exercises that give us a picture of the developmental stages of a child from around the age of 11 to 18. In this workshop we will focus on the high school years. These exercises can give us a clarifying and refreshing picture of our typical high school student. We can explore questions such as; ‘do these exercises still fit with the typical modern teenager’? How can we work with these exercises and our students to bring them a well rounded educational experience?

  • Movement Workshops The Ancient Greek Olympics May 14-15

Running, Jumping, Wrestling, Discus and Javelin are the five Ancient Greek disciplines that we’ll engage with practically. We aim to hone our skills and learn the deeper meaning of how these exercises relate to the body. There’s also an interesting relationship between these disciplines and the exercises that aim to develop the soul qualities of thinking, feeling and willing.

All of the workshops will involve learning and practicing some specific Bothmer movement exercises, partner or small group work to correct our alignment when carrying out the exercises, conditioning exercises to help us get a better sense of the exercises and a healthy dose of games and social movement activities. There will be enough time for questions and answers at the end of each workshop.
