Goodness and the Astral Body

  • Friday, February 20, 2026
  • Sunday, February 22, 2026
  • Tobias School of Art and Therapy RH19 4LZ

We will conclude our three-year exploration of the three qualities ‘Truth, Beauty and Goodness’ based on Rudolf Steiner’s lecture from 19th January 1923. We had chosen this theme because we feel these qualities are more important than ever on so many levels: in our therapeutic practice and personal journey, but also as a contribution to building a world worth passing on to the next generations.

In 2023 we began with looking into truth in relation to our physical body. In 2024 we worked with beauty in connection with our formative life forces. In spring 2026 we will explore the good and how it relates to our soul forces. This will be very intriguing and open up many creative possibilities since Steiner describes the good as an inner force that is of the greatest importance for the development of the future, as ‘a living seed for a spiritual world in the future’.

When we started our conference cycle it coincided with the 100th anniversary of Steiner’s lecture. It is however important to us, to engage with these qualities from a contemporary perspective. Although, they remain fundamental pillars of our human existence, and yet, how can we conceptualise, experience and nurture them in the light of our complex social demands and mental health of our time?

We therefore want to invite colleagues to share their work in our case study presentations, because what we can learn from each other is richer than any other learning. We also have a keynote speaker, Karin Jarman who will address questions in her lecture “Truth, Beauty and Goodness in the Context of the Challenges to our Humanity Today”. Over the following two days we will then deepen the theme creatively.

Please note that participation in this conference does not require you to have attended the first two parts. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you to the beautiful grounds of Tobias School of Art and Therapy in Ashdown Forest, Sussex, where the conference will be hosted. You will find our detailed programme for the 2026 conference with time table and information on the activities and facilitators here. The registration form is available to download here.
