AMA MEMBERSHIP LEVELS

There are a few options for AMA membership. These are explained below

  • in training or trained in Anthroposophic Medicine, or
  • have an interest in Anthroposophic Medicine and are members of the General Anthroposophical Society of Great Britain.

The advised contribution is £200 but lower rates of contribution are acceptable if means don't allow the member to pay the full rate (see Concessions below).

Associate Membership

Associate Membership is open to practitioners in nursing, midwifery, pharmacy and other paramedical professions who are in training in the UK or hold a recognised qualification, who express a positive interest in anthroposophic medicine and who feel it to be worthy of support. Associate members of the AMA are asked to pay £100 per year. Reduced contributions are also possible (see Concessions).

Student Membership

Student Membership is open to students of medicine at recognised medical schools who express a positive interest in anthroposophic medicine. This level of membership is available for £25 per year for as long as you remain a student.

Introductory Membership is open, for a maximum of 2 years, to medical practitioners who hold a recognised qualification, who express a positive interest in anthroposophic medicine. Is available for £50 per year for the first 2 years of membership.

HOW IS THE AMA RUN?

According to our constitution, the AMA is run by a council of 5-9 members, consisting of a Treasurer, Secretary and optional Chair role. Council positions are held for up to 3 years and representatives are elected at our AGM which occurs every 12-18 months. The council meet via video conference every 4-12 weeks at a mutually convenient time to discuss current matters including, but not limited to:

  • issues affecting Anthroposophic medical, nursing and paramedical practitioners
  • issues to do with UK medicines legislation, medicine supply, prescribing or safety
  • Anthroposophic medical education matters
  • professional body representation e.g. issues affecting reputation or working conditions

The meetings are often as much as a friendly catch up as they are a formal business meeting, and any AMA member is welcome to contact us regarding issues which they feel need to be addressed.

Members have access to the AMA Forum, in which they can read the minutes of meetings, and to the membership directory, from which they can contact other AMA members.
